About LokalGig
LokalGig helps Malaysians launch their first gig online without commissions, complex dashboards, or writing perfect English. Paste your rough notes, let the AI generate a professional listing, and receive enquiries directly on WhatsApp.
Malaysia has thousands of skilled people who’ve never sold a service online — not because they lack talent, but because every existing platform was built for someone else. Fiverr takes 20%. Upwork assumes English fluency and a laptop. Shopee is built for physical goods. Facebook Marketplace has no trust layer.
Meanwhile, the makcik who makes the best kuih in Taman Melati already runs her business on WhatsApp — she just doesn’t have a way to be found outside her kampung network.
LokalGig is the bridge. We’re not trying to replace WhatsApp or disrupt the gig economy. We’re trying to get first-time Malaysian earners online and earning — with as little friction as possible.
We never touch your money. Customers pay you directly — cash, DuitNow, or bank transfer. We earn trust, not commission.
No new apps to master. When a customer finds your service, they message you on WhatsApp. Your current chat app becomes your digital storefront.
Post in BM, English, or rojak — our AI assistant crafts your listing in both languages automatically. Your voice, localized.
Launch your service without an upfront 'verification gauntlet.' Trust is earned through tenure and customer testimonials, not by surrendering your IC on day one.
We built LokalGig for Malaysians who have skill and time but no digital storefront yet. If any of these sound like you or someone you know, LokalGig is for you:
Our users are independent professionals, not platform inventory. We never condescend, gamify self-worth, or build leaderboards that rank humans.
The hardest sale is the first one. Every design decision we make is judged by the same question: does this make a first-time earner more or less likely to get their first booking?
A user who feels “saya sebahagian daripada LokalGig” is worth more than any funnel optimisation. Community is the product.
If a user who only knows WhatsApp can't understand it in 10 seconds, we rewrite it. Plain language, one clear action, zero jargon.
Instead of mandatory IC checks on day one, we show buyers progressive trust signals — tenure, testimonials, WhatsApp-active status. Trust is earned, not extracted.

Founder story
I’m Syed Mohamad Arif, a Malaysian mobile and frontend developer based in Kuala Lumpur. My work has always sat between design and engineering, turning rough ideas into usable apps, clear interfaces, and products people can actually understand.
Over time, I kept seeing the same gap around me. Friends, neighbours, students, home bakers, tutors, craft makers, and small service providers already had skill and effort, but not enough recognition or digital exposure. Many were running real work through WhatsApp, yet the modern digital economy still treated them like they were invisible.
LokalGig is my way of changing that. I want more Malaysians to move together with the digital era, not be left behind by it. That means giving people a simple place to show what they can do, learn the basic digital common sense many of us take for granted, and earn their first ringgit with dignity.
“Recognition should not belong only to people who already know how to market themselves online.”
Paste rough notes in BM or EN. Our AI helper turns them into a polished listing in about 10 seconds. Free forever.
