Terms of Service
The rules of the road.
These terms are a binding agreement between you and LokalGigwhen you create an account, post a gig, or contact a seller. We’ve written them in plain language. Read them; if you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

The short version
- LokalGig is a directory, not a marketplace. We connect buyers and sellers. We are not a party to the deals you make.
- Zero commission, off-platform payment. You and the buyer settle directly (cash, DuitNow, transfer). LokalGig never holds your money and provides no escrow, refund, or chargeback service.
- You own your content. We need a limited licence to host and display it. That’s it.
- No scraping, no spam, no fraud. Break the rules and your account gets removed without notice.
- No warranty on other users. We surface trust signals; you’re still responsible for vetting whom you deal with. See safe-dealing tips.
1.Definitions
- “LokalGig”, “we”, “us” — the operator of lokalgig.my.
- “Service” — the LokalGig website, app, APIs, and any related features.
- “Seller” — a registered user who publishes one or more gigs.
- “Buyer” — anyone (registered or not) who browses or contacts a seller via the Service.
- “Gig” — a service listing published by a seller.
- “Content” — any text, image, video, or other material uploaded by a user.
2.Eligibility and account
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You must give accurate information. One person, one account. Don’t impersonate anyone.
- You are responsible for the security of your password and any activity under your account. Tell us immediately at hello@lokalgig.my if you suspect unauthorised access.
- We may verify your identity (e.g. for trust badges). Verification is optional. If you verify, the documents you submit must be genuine and current.
3.What LokalGig is — and isn't
LokalGig is a listings directory. We help sellers be found and let buyers contact them on WhatsApp. We do not:
- Employ sellers, control how they perform their service, or set their prices.
- Process, hold, or guarantee payment between buyer and seller.
- Provide escrow, refunds, chargebacks, or insurance.
- Warrant the quality, legality, or safety of any service offered or any user’s identity, even when a trust badge is shown.
Every transaction or agreement is between buyer and seller. You handle pricing, scope, payment, delivery, and disputes between yourselves.
4.Zero commission and off-platform payment
LokalGig does not take a commission on bookings made through the platform. Payment happens off-platform — typically by cash, DuitNow, online banking, or another method you and the buyer agree on.
Because we do not handle payments:
- We have no record of how much was paid, when, or whether goods/services were delivered.
- We cannot reverse a transaction, recover funds, or issue refunds. If you are asked to pay an upfront deposit, you are accepting that risk yourself.
- Stay on legitimate Malaysian payment rails. Never share OTPs, never download “payment apps” sent over WhatsApp, and verify suspicious accounts on semakmule.rmp.gov.my. See our safe-dealing tips.
We may introduce optional paid services in the future (e.g. premium seller tools or featured placement). Any such service will have its own clearly disclosed pricing and will not change LokalGig’s zero-commission posture on bookings.
5.Acceptable use
You agree NOT to use LokalGig to:
- Post anything illegal under Malaysian law, or anything that infringes a third party’s rights.
- Offer or solicit prohibited services — for example: anything sexual or adult, gambling, narcotics, weapons, money-laundering, MLM/get-rich-quick schemes, fake review writing, academic ghost-writing for graded submissions, hacking-for-hire, or services that violate MCMC content rules.
- Run scams, phishing, advance-fee fraud, “parcel pickup” tricks, fake job offers, or any other deception.
- Spam buyers, send unsolicited bulk WhatsApp messages, or harvest contact details.
- Scrape or republish LokalGig content using bots, crawlers, or automated extractors. Search engine crawlers obeying our
robots.txtare welcome. - Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass any security or rate-limit.
- Upload malware, viruses, or content that would cause damage if a buyer downloads it.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against any other user on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexuality, disability, or origin.
- Submit fake gigs, fake reviews, or fake testimonials, including review-swap arrangements.
- Use LokalGig to compete by copying another user’s gig wording, images, or branding.
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate any account that breaks these rules — at our discretion, with or without prior notice. Serious violations are reported to the relevant Malaysian authorities.
6.Your content and the licence we need
You keep all rights to the content you post. By uploading content (gig description, images, profile bio, etc.) you grant LokalGig a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, display, distribute, resize, and translate that content for the sole purpose of operating and promoting the Service. The licence ends when you delete the content, except for backup copies that roll off naturally.
You promise that:
- You own or have permission to use everything you upload.
- Your content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, or right of publicity.
- Photos showing identifiable people were taken with their permission for this commercial use.
We may use anonymised, aggregated screenshots of public listings for marketing or investor decks; never private profile data.
Copyright complaints. If you believe content on LokalGig infringes your copyright, email hello@lokalgig.my with: identification of the work, the URL of the infringing listing, your contact details, and a good-faith statement. We’ll review and act, including takedown, where appropriate.
7.The AI Gig Builder
LokalGig provides an AI-assisted helper that turns your rough notes into a polished bilingual gig listing. By using it you agree:
- The output is a draft. You are responsible for reviewing it before publishing. Words are ultimately yours.
- You are responsible for ensuring the output is accurate, not misleading, and doesn’t infringe on third-party content. AI-generated text can contain mistakes.
- We may rate-limit usage to control cost (e.g. a daily generation cap per account).
- We do not guarantee that any specific listing will rank, sell, or attract enquiries.
Inputs you paste are handled per the Privacy Policy.
8.Reviews, ratings, and trust badges
- Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Fake reviews, paid reviews, and review-swaps are prohibited and will be removed.
- Trust badges (e.g. WhatsApp-active, tenure milestones, verification) are signals — not warranties. We may revoke them if their underlying basis no longer holds.
- We may moderate or remove reviews that are off-topic, abusive, contain personal data of third parties, or appear to violate these terms.
9.Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if:
- You materially breach these Terms or our Privacy Policy.
- We have a reasonable belief that your activity is fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful to other users.
- You are the subject of multiple substantiated abuse reports.
- A Malaysian authority orders us to.
- You ask us to close the account.
You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. Deletion follows the retention timelines in the Privacy Policy.
Sections that, by their nature, should survive termination — content licence (limited to backup roll-off), liability, indemnity, governing law — survive.
10.Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is”and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We specifically do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every threat.
- Any seller or buyer is who they claim to be, even if a trust badge is shown.
- Any service offered will be delivered to your satisfaction, on time, or at all.
- Search results, AI outputs, or analytics are accurate or complete.
11.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LokalGig and its operators are not liable for:
- Any loss arising from a transaction or interaction between you and another user (e.g. non-delivery, payment fraud, scams).
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost goodwill, lost data, or business interruption.
- Anything caused by force majeure, internet/WhatsApp/payments-rail outages, or third parties beyond our reasonable control.
Our total aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid LokalGig for paid services in that period, or (b) RM 100. This reflects the free, zero-commission nature of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law, including liability for fraud or for death/personal injury caused by negligence.
12.Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold LokalGig (and its operators, contractors, and affiliates) harmless from any third-party claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your content or your use of the Service.
- Your breach of these Terms or any law.
- Your interaction with another user, including any service you provide or buy.
13.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for changes that reduce your rights, give registered users at least 14 days’ notice via email or in-app notice. Your continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
14.Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. The courts of Malaysia (sitting in Kuala Lumpur) have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws give you the right to bring a claim in your local court.
Before starting any formal proceeding, please email hello@lokalgig.my with the details of your concern. Most things resolve faster over email than in court.
15.General
- Severability. If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- No waiver.Our not enforcing a clause once doesn’t waive our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment.You can’t assign your account or these Terms without our written consent. We can assign them in connection with a corporate reorganisation or sale of the business, with notice.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms we link from inside the product, are the entire agreement between you and LokalGig.
